At STAR Brokerage, we're passionate about understanding the journey behind every brand we represent. Recently, our team had the fascinating experience of touring Golden Gate Paper Co. in Mexicali, Mexico – a key subsidiary of the impressive Papel San Francisco, the second-largest paper goods manufacturer in the country.
Stepping inside Golden Gate Paper Co. was like entering a world with the industrious hum of machinery and the distinct scent of wood pulp transforming into the everyday paper products we often take for granted.
A Glimpse into the Process:
Our tour provided an insightful look into the intricate process of paper manufacturing. We witnessed firsthand how raw materials, likely sourced responsibly, are broken down and processed into pulp. It was remarkable to see the sheer scale of the operation, with massive equipment working in concert to refine and treat the pulp, preparing it for its transformation.
The next stage involved the formation of the paper itself. We observed the continuous sheets emerging from enormous machines, the water being carefully extracted, and the fibers binding together to create the familiar texture of paper. It was a powerful reminder of the science and engineering involved in creating something so ubiquitous.
From there, the massive rolls of paper moved through various stages of processing, depending on their final form. We saw how these large rolls were converted into the consumer and industrial products that Papel San Francisco is known for – the very paper towels we use in our kitchens or and toilet paper in our bathrooms.
